Our Methodology

Quick answerOur methodology follows the biology of Pterocarpus santalinus. Districts are chosen where well-drained red laterite and gravelly soils meet a hot, semi-arid climate, the species’ natural preference. Each site is soil-tested before planting; certified saplings go in at a managed density of roughly 100 per acre with spacing for decades of growth; drip irrigation carries establishment; maintenance crews weed, protect and gap-fill; GIS mapping and quarterly drone surveys track every block; and harvest planning follows Forest Department procedure. The method optimises the variables management can control, while being honest that biology and markets control the rest.

Site selection

Free-draining red soils, water access, connectivity, the criteria detailed under land selection, applied across our six districts.

Establishment

Soil testing and preparation; certified planting stock; ~100 plants/acre with growth spacing; drip irrigation commissioned from day one.

Care & monitoring

Scheduled weeding, basin maintenance, protection checks and replanting where needed; GIS-mapped blocks; quarterly drone surveys feeding public updates and investor reports, detailed under maintenance & monitoring.

The long middle

Years 3 to 10 are patient years: canopy development, heartwood initiation, steady care. Anyone promising shortcuts is contradicting the biology.
